Yohei Adachi appointed Creative Director of AKQA Japan
AKQA announced the appointment of Yohei Adachi as Creative Director of AKQA Japan. The appointment is effective immediately.
After graduating in graphic design, the Pratt Institute alumni briefly worked as a street wear designer in New York City, before returning to Tokyo. Adachi landed a job at BBH Tokyo, slowly discovering the industry, crafts, and cultural influence behind them.
âWe are lucky to have Yohei. The ability to identify gold and find it is not something you can teach a creative person, âsaid Terence Leong, ECD, AKQA Tokyo.
âIt’s an instinct that developed because of what Yohei had experienced in life as a person who was passionate and curious about the arts, culture, subculture, sports, music, fashion and all that is exciting. I wish I had more pioneers like him on board to find us more gold.
Adachi’s mission now is to change the marketing landscape in Japan, one project at a time.
âHaving a background in design, I never considered myself an ‘advertising man’. I’ve always designed work that incorporates streetwear elements, appealing to both mine and generations after me. Joining a design and innovation company that goes beyond traditional advertising was therefore the natural next step in my career, âsaid Adachi.
